It’s clear that Lisbon-based DJ Chima Isaaro has been doing the work. Lighting up dance floors across Europe — from underground basements to some of the continent’s most respected clubs and festivals — the seasoned selector, who is as much a dancer as a digger, is known for her uplifting, surprising, and always generous sets. Effortlessly melodic and emotionally resonant, her sound moves through house, techno, soul, batida, jazz, and beyond. She consistently offers up Black-rooted candescence, for the people.

Her mix series Nyce & Slo has long been a favorite for discerning lovers and yearners, while her jacked-up, turned-out dance mixes and expansive live sets have won her devotees internationally.

Off the decks she is co-creator of Revolutionary Dreamscapes, a nomadic space blending sound, ritual, and community, dedicated to Black healing and restoration, she's also a film and music producer, and a researcher in ethnomusicology. Her work focuses mainly on the underground music cultures of the African diaspora, exploring them from a decolonial perspective, with a strong emphasis on celebrating the black roots of electronic music.
